Aboriginal Health Outreach Worker

The Aboriginal Health Outreach Program is a component of the Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy, which is a policy and service initiative that brings together the Aboriginal people and the government of Ontario in a unique partnership to promote health and healing among Aboriginal people.

The Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy encompasses a wide range of flexible approaches and emphasizes the interconnections of all stages of the life cycle incorporating an understanding  of the link between the health and wellness of the individual, the family, the community and the nation.

The goal of the Aboriginal Health Outreach Program is to ensure that the health needs of the Aboriginal community are being addressed by undertaking health promotion, education, and linking Aboriginal cultural resources and mainstream health providers.
